Be A Player provides a mix of bad news/good newsPRESS RELEASE Toronto, ON; November 30, 2001: In the Game, Inc., the manufacturers of the Be A Player brands of hockey cards, is in one of those good news - bad news situations.First the bad news. Hobbyists will have to wait one week longer than planned for the return of the Parkhurst brand of hockey cards. The original release date was November 28th but because of a few minor snags, the product will be issued on December 5th instead. The good news is the minor delay will allow In the Game to include all inserts and autographed cards in the packs without having to rely on using redemption cards as a substitute. "We have listened to collectors and we know how so many of them feel about redemption cards," admitted Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In the Game. "A lot of hobbyists simply don't want to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get cards that were originally promised in packs. We do everything possible to meet all our production deadlines but the occasional unexpected delay is inevitable, especially when relying on such a large group of players to return their autographed cards. "We came very close to reaching our goal, but in the end we decided a seven-day delay was worth being able to avoid redemption cards all together." The Parkhurst brand consists of a 300-card base set including 50 short-printed rookies. Parkhurst also includes no fewer than 13 different insert sets such as a 150-card Parkhurst Reprint set, a 40-card Autographed set highlighting some of the most prominent names in hockey history including Mr. Hockey®, Parkhurst Vintage Memorabilia cards, the 500-Goal Scorer Game-Used Jersey set, and Teammates Triple Jersey cards. In the Game, Inc. has produced the Be A Player brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99. Their lineup for 2000-01 will consist of six products including the Memorabilia Series, the Signature Series, the Ultimate Memorabilia Second Edition, the Update Series, the Parkhurst Series, and a new set focusing entirely on goalies entitled Between the Pipes.
