In The Game Brings Its Redemption Program To Boston

(Toronto, ON; August 23, 2002): In the Game, Inc., the manufacturers of Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey cards, is happy to announce their participation in the upcoming Boston Sports and Collectible Festival, otherwise known as "Suffolk Downs II". In the Game will not only have a booth at the event, the company will also be offering another version of their popular redemption card program at the show.

Suffolk Downs II will take place from September 6-8 at Suffolk Downs Raceway in East Boston and is the second annual Boston show presented by Vintage Sports Promotions. The event will feature more than 250 tables of sports cards and memorabilia, interactive games, contests and an extensive lineup of autograph guests including former Bruins Phil Esposito, Wayne Cashman, Ken Hodge, Milt Schmidt, Fern Flaman,Terry O'Reilly, Barry Pederson, Stan Jonathan, and Johnny MacKenzie among others.

"I love promoting the Boston Sports and Collectible Festival and I'm excited about its growth with such a great mix of dealers and sports memorabilia," said Phil Chiaramonte of Vintage Sports Promotions. "Suffolk Downs is a great place to run a family show that's so much fun for everybody. And adding a manufacturer like In the Game with their redemption card program means a great deal to us. This will generate even more value for all those who attend."

In the Game's redemption card program will remain similar to what has been so successful at dozens of previous shows across North America. Collectors are asked to purchase various Be A Player products from dealers on the show floor. Then they can open them at the Be A Player booth and exchange their wrappers for extremely limited foil-stamped versions of the base cards from the new 425-card First Edition set (numbered to 10). These cards are dispensed randomly and will only be available at this show.

The Be A Player products that collectors can purchase to qualify for the program include the new 2002-03 First Edition as well as the entire 2001-02 product lineup. Any products from 2000-01 or earlier are not eligible. The breakdown of how many cards collectors receive per product/wrapper is as follows:

2002-03 BAP First Edition Hobby version - one redemption card per wrapper
2002-03 BAP First Edition Retail version - one redemption card per two wrappers
2001-02 BAP Memorabilia Series - one card per wrapper
2001-02 Parkhurst - one card per wrapper
2001-02 BAP Between the Pipes - one card per wrapper
2001-02 BAP Signature Series - one card per wrapper
2001-02 BAP Update Series - one card per wrapper
2001-02 BAP Ultimate Memorabilia 2nd Edition - 10 cards per wrapper

"We all know how intense the interest in hockey and hockey collectibles is in Canada," explained Dr. Brian Price, President of In the Game, "but there are a number of regions in the United States with an equally strong demand and the New England area is one of them. We are very happy to work with the people at Vintage Sports Promotions. This will give us an excellent opportunity to tap into that market and promote the Be A Player and Parkhurst brands. We are looking forward to meeting collectors in that region and sharing ideas with them."

In the Game, Inc. has produced the Be A Player brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99. The company has a number of hockey card products slated for release in 2002-03 including First Edition (released August 21); the Memorabilia Series (scheduled for November release), Parkhurst (scheduled for December release), Between the Pipes (scheduled for January release), Signature Series (scheduled for April release), Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition (scheduled for May release).
