New Be A Player Contest Asks You To Choose Your Favourite Parkhurst Set(Toronto, ON; January 11 , 2001); In the Game, Inc., the manufacturer of the Be A Player brands of hockey cards, has launched a new contest in which collectors are being asked to choose their favourite vintage Parkhurst hockey set. Collectors can log on to Be A Player's website at www.baptradingcards.com for contest details. Once on the site, you can view sample images from each annual Parkhurst hockey set from 1951-52 through 1963-64 (with the exception of 1956-57 when there was no set). Simply click your mouse to vote for your favourite and include your name and e-mail address to enter. "I followed through on this idea because I want to see what collectors favour," said Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In the Game. "You never know but we may even use some of this information to build a card set in the future." Of those who vote for the winning set, one lucky entrant will be the recipient of a Parkhurst hockey jersey autographed by Mr. Hockey® himself, Gordie Howe. Mr. Hockey recently signed on as the captain of "Team Parkhurst." The 2001-02 edition of Parkhurst was released on December 5, 2001 and marks the 50th anniversary of the first mainstream hockey card set of the modern era, the fabled 1951-52 Parkhurst set. "My favourite is that 1951-52 set," said Price. "I love the size, the simplicity, and the blank backs. Most of all, I like the way the photographs have been painted over to give the cards colour." The deadline for entering the contest is March 31, 2002. The winning name will be posted on the website. In the Game, Inc. has produced the Be A Player brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99. Their lineup of products for 2001-02 includes The Memorabilia Series (released August 2001), Parkhurst, The Signature Series, The Ultimate Memorabilia 2nd Edition, The Update Series, and Between the Pipes (the first-ever all-goalie issue).
