Be A Player Announces Series II: The Playoff Series

April 8, 1999: Toronto, Ontario. In the Game, Inc. is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the Be A Player-Playoff Series.

The Playoff Series follows the sucessful release of the All-Star Series released the first week in February. The Playoff Series is due to be released during the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the week of May 10th.

"We are excited to be releasing the Playoff Series of the 1998/99 Be A Player Trading Cards," said Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In The Game, Inc. "Everyone seems to be pleased with the All-Star Series and I know that the Playoff Series will not disappoint the Be A Player collectors."

Since In The Game, Inc.'s license is limited to the Be A Player Series, their concentrated efforts are certain to raise significant money for the Players Helping Players Fund, a charity that is close to the hearts of both the current and former NHLPA members.

The Playoff Series will feature both game-used and practice-used jersey cards from the greatest stars in hockey. Players whose jerseys will be included are Eric Lindros, Patrick Roy, Brett Hull, Pavel Bure, Mats Sundin, Sergei Fedorov, Steve Yzerman and many more. A special feature will be game-used jersey cards from a 1982/83 Wayne Gretzky Edmonton Oilers jersey. This should be a real treat for Gretzky collectors.

In the All-Star Series, In The Game included Be A Player Hockey Legend Gordie Howe. To add to the excitement of the Playoff Series we have included both jersey and stick cards of the second Be A Player Hockey Legend, Mario Lemieux. Mario will also autograph some of these cards.

Each pack of the Playoff Series will include either an autograph card or a game-used memorabilia card. There will be 5 cards per pack, four regular series cards and one autograph or game used memorabilia card. The regular series cards are anything but regular. Each card is a full foil front on 30 pt stock. These cards will give new meaning to the phrase "super-premium".
