In the Game announces a redemption program of All-Star proportion!

(Toronto, ON; January 13, 2003): In the Game, Inc., the manufacturer of Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey cards, is in the midst of preparing their most impressive redemption card program ever and collectors who attend the 2003 NHL All-Star Game Block Party in Sunrise, Florida from January 30 to February 1 will be the beneficiaries.

A popular attraction at every show In the Game has participated in over recent years, the premise of the redemption program is simple. Collectors who purchase specific Be A Player and Parkhurst products at the show can open their packs at the In the Game booth. In exchange for the wrappers, they will receive unique and highly collectible foil-stamped cards. These cards are sequentially numbered out of 10, or they are one-of-ones, and they are available exclusively at this show.

The highlight at the 2003 All-Star event will be the availability of a wide selection of game-used memorabilia cards, each of which will be numbered "1/1". More than 500 different one-of-one memorabilia cards will be specially created for this show. All of the game's biggest names will be available including Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, and Steve Yzerman.

The traditional aspect of the redemption program remains as strong as ever. Featuring special foil-stamped cards sequentially numbered to 10 with a number of (non-memorabilia) one-of-ones randomly dispersed among them, collectors are assured of additional value, and plenty of interactive fun when they purchase Be A Player cards.

"The response to these one-of-one memorabilia cards at the Toronto Expo last fall was tremendous," explained Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In the Game, referring to the show in which the company first introduced the concept. "We knew we had to do this again, but at an event the caliber of the All-Star Block Party, it was important that we do it even bigger and better. I can honestly say this is a program worthy of one of the NHL's biggest showcases."

To qualify for a one-of-one memorabilia card, collectors must open two factory-sealed boxes of either 2002-03 First Edition (hobby version), 2002-03 Memorabilia Series, or 2002-03 All-Star Edition. Both boxes must be opened at the same time and all wrappers must be submitted to In the Game personnel.

For First Edition, the collector will randomly receive one of 210 different memorabilia inserts found in that brand including 160 Jersey cards, 20 NHL Debut, 20 Scoring Leaders, and 10 Magnificent Inserts. For the Memorabilia Series, collectors will randomly receive one of 301 different memorabilia inserts found in that product including Stanley Cup Playoffs, Future of the Game, and All-Star In the Numbers and Emblem cards among others. And for 2002-03 All-Star Edition, collectors will randomly receive one of 100 different All-Star Jersey inserts available in that brand.

This one-of-one memorabilia card offer will be valid for all three brands during all three days of the show. Those receiving one-of-one memorabilia cards will not be eligible for other redemption cards.

As for the traditional component of the redemption program, here is what collectors can look forward to. On Thursday, January 30, we will be offering specially stamped cards from the 2002-03 First Edition base set of 400 cards. These will be sequentially numbered to 10. Randomly mixed with these cards will be one-of-one versions of the 50 First Round Draft Pick subset cards from the set (25 hobby and 25 retail).

On Friday, January 31, we will offer specially stamped cards (numbered to 10) from the 2002-03 Memorabilia Series base set of 300 cards. Randomly mixed in among these will be one-of-one versions of all three parallel sets including Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.

On Saturday, February 1, we will offer specially stamped cards (numbered to 10) from the first 100 cards of the 2002-03 All-Star Edition base set, and all 150 cards from the 2002-03 Between the Pipes base set. Randomly mixed in among these will be one-of-one versions of both the Silver and Gold parallel versions of Between the Pipes.

"We're offering the best of both worlds with this program," says Price. "Imagine how thrilled a collector will be if he receives a one-of-one memorabilia card of Patrick Roy or Steve Yzerman? Or how about a Mario Lemieux Magnificent Insert with four separate pieces of memorabilia on it? On the other hand, the cards numbered out of 10 have always been extremely popular and are perfect for those who redeem smaller quantities of wrappers."

The following In the Game products will qualify for the program:
2002-03 All-Star Edition - one card per wrapper
2002-03 Memorabilia Series - one card per wrapper
2002-03 First Edition Hobby - one card per wrapper
2002-03 First Edition Retail - one card per two wrappers
2001-02 Ultimate Memorabilia - 10 cards per wrapper
2001-02 Update Series - one card per wrapper
2001-02 Between the Pipes - one card per wrapper
2001-02 Signature Series - two cards per wrapper
2001-02 Parkhurst - one card per wrapper
2001-02 Memorabilia Series - one card per wrapper

Again, those who receive our traditional redemption cards will not be eligible for the one-of-one memorabilia cards. Be A Player products released before 2001-02 will NOT be eligible for this promotion.
