In The Game presents the Ultimate collecting experience- Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition!
(Toronto, ON; June 19, 2003): In The Game, Inc., the manufacturer of Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey cards, is pleased to announce the successful release of the 2002-03 Be A Player Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition on June 12. One of the boldest concepts in card collecting is back.
Both Ultimate Memorabilia and Ultimate Memorabilia 2nd Edition rocked hockey-card collector's worlds over the previous two years. In 2000-01, the Ultimate Memorabilia set presented the game's greatest stars from both past and present in a series of stunning game-used memorabilia cards. The maximum print run for any one card was 90, and every card was slabbed in a special Be A Player holder. Every holder also included a label that was sequentially numbered. Each pack held one card and had an SRP of $99 (U.S. funds). A total of 25,000 packs were produced. The result was a brisk sell-out!
In 2001-02, we presented Ultimate Memorabilia 2nd Edition. Again, the brand consisted of 25,000 game-used memorabilia cards. Not wanting to rest on our laurels, every card was graded and slabbed by Beckett Grading Services. In addition, the maximum production total for any one card was reduced to 50. Each holder included a sequentially-numbered label. Ultimate Memorabilia 2nd Edition consisted of a larger variety of subsets and included dynamic concepts such as "Made to Order" and "Autographed 500-Goal Scorers".
Never content with the status quo, In the Game has enhanced the Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition with yet another twist. This time, collectors are finding TWO cards in every pack! One is the traditional game-used memorabilia card and the other one is a professionally graded Rookie Card.
As in previous years, there will be a total of 25,000 game-used memorabilia cards produced. They will break down into a greater variety of subsets than ever, close to 50 subsets in all! Many popular subset themes have returned including Dynasty, Active Eight, Journey Jersey, Ultimate Captains, Nameplates, and Made to Order. These are complemented by a number of new subsets such as Number Ones, Numerology, Conn Smythe Winners, Lifetime Achievers, and Seams Unbelievable, to mention but a few.
"Even though this is our third version of this product, I can still state with confidence that no one else has come close to matching what we offer in Ultimate Memorabilia," said In The Game President Dr. Brian H. Price. "All of these cards have a 'wow' factor to them. We use the best players, the best ideas and concepts, and the highest-caliber memorabilia. Put it all together and it makes a big impression on hobbyists. It also represents value for both the collector and the dealer."
Imagine the thrill of receiving your very own Made To Order card, the concept that was so successful last year! It's not every day you have a special "one-of-one" memorabilia card created just for you! Best of all, you get to pick the player that appears on the card from a list of choices we provide online.
Fans of signed cards will appreciate the Ultimate Autographs and Ultimate Rookie Autographs cards. There are also Gold one-of-one parallel versions of several of the subsets including Global Dominators and Stanley Cup Duels.
The quality of the cards in Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition is better than ever. The themes of each subset are clever and well-defined. The card designs are striking and dynamic. The craftsmanship involved is second-to-none. Any one of these cards has the potential of instantly becoming the centerpiece of someone's collection.
"There are no holds barred when we develop Ultimate Memorabilia each year," says Price. "We let our imaginations run wild and try to make our own collecting dreams come true. How else could we come up with concepts such as 'Paper Cuts', 'Made to Order', or 'Great Moments in Hockey History'? Aren't innovations like adding a graded rookie card, special one-of-one versions of a number of the subsets, and keeping the production of all the memorabilia cards to 50 or less something that hobbyists couldn't even imagine a few years ago?"
These game-used memorabilia cards are not graded, but each is slabbed in a special Beckett holder, complete with a sequentially-numbered label. The maximum production total for any single memorabilia card will not exceed 50. As usual, an outstanding selection of both current stars and retired greats will be featured. You'll find everyone from Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, and Steve Yzerman to Maurice Richard, Terry Sawchuk, and Bobby Hull.
Now for the Rookie Cards! In the Game has assembled the finest group of 100 rookies possible in Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition. Look for household names like Henrik Zetterberg, Rick Nash, Jason Spezza, Jay Bouwmeester, and Alexander Frolov. You can also look for high-profile prospects like Pascal Lecalire, Ray Emery, Jason Bacashihua, Konstantin Koltsov and Igor Radulov. These Rookie Cards are printed using exciting micro-etched foil technology and are limited to 250 copies of each. And, each Rookie Card will be graded by Beckett Grading Services, complete with an attractive holder and sequentially-numbered label.
"The best thing about Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition is we've maintained our high standards, and we've maintained our price point despite adding all this value," says Price. "I'm not sure how we're going to top this again next year but we've done it three times so I'm sure we'll all be up for the fourth."
The Ultimate Memorabilia 3rd Edition will once again retail for $99 (U.S. funds) per pack. Each box includes five packs.
In The Game, Inc. has produced the Be A Player and Parkhurst brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99. The company released nine hockey card products in 2002-03.
