In The Game Announces Print Runs For In The Game-Action Rookie Debut Cards

(Toronto, ON; August 30, 2004): In The Game, Inc., manufacturers of In The Game and Parkhurst brands of hockey cards, has just announced the production runs for each of the 24 Rookie Debut cards from the 2003-04 In The Game-Action set (Click here to read the 2003-04 In The Game-Action product description).

In The Game-Action was originally released on September 17, 2003. Featuring dramatic photography, this set consisted of 600 cards and is the largest single-release hockey set ever produced. In an effort to bolster the Rookie Card content, special Rookie Debut Redemption cards were randomly seeded in packs. Each redemption card featured a number from 601 to 616 and each number represented a different high-profile rookie.

Upon the release of In The Game-Action factory sets later in the season, collectors found one additional Rookie Debut Redemption card per set. These were numbered from 617-624.

By November 15, 2004, the list of which rookies corresponded to each of the 24 card numbers was released. Hobbyists were instructed to send their Rookie Debut Redemption cards to In The Game in exchange for the corresponding Rookie Card. It was announced that production for each of these Rookie Cards would not exceed 750. This offer expired on July 31, 2004 allowing officials at In The Game to tabulate the final production numbers.

Eventually, In The Game also produced 50 additional Update cards (including many more Rookie Cards) for In The Game-Action completing the set at 674 cards.

"Because of the timing of the original release, we were unable to include more than seven Rookie Cards in the original 600-card set," explained Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In The Game. "Adding the Rookie Debut component offered the opportunity to add value and fun by making the product more interactive. If you look at the number of cards redeemed, some collectors might be surprised at how low those print runs are. I'd like to add that those who made the effort to redeem their cards may be pleasantly surprised. It's nice to see them rewarded for their support."

In The Game, Inc. has produced In The Game, Be A Player, and Parkhurst brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99. The company has issued a number of hockey card products in 2003-04 including In The Game-Action (released September 17), Memorabilia Series (released December 11), Original Six (six team specific releases from January to March), In The Game-Used Signature Series (released April 27), Parkhurst Rookie (released May 29), and Be A Player Ultimate Memorabilia 4th Edition (released June 30).

In The Game also launched its VIP Program in 2003-04, an initiative comprised of two additional product lines - VIP Series One and VIP Rookie Debut.
