In The Game Is Pleased To Deliver... The "Orriginal" Six!(Toronto, ON; January 9, 2004): That's no typo... the legendary Bobby Orr has joined the In The Game team.In The Game, the Toronto-based manufacturer of Parkhurst, Be A Player, and In The Game hockey trading cards is thrilled to announce they have reached an agreement with hockey icon Bobby Orr, a true superstar and innovator, an individual we consider the greatest defenseman in the history of the game. The agreement provides In The Game exclusive rights to produce hockey trading cards of Bobby Orr in a number of different brands throughout 2004. Initial plans call for a variety of base cards, inserts, autographed cards and game-used memorabilia cards. "I can't tell you what a thrill this is for me," exclaimed Dr. Brian H. Price, President of In The Game. "Any time you have an opportunity to associate your company with the likes of Bobby Orr it is certain to make a big impression. I am certainly honored to have them on board. I waited almost 10 years to work with Bobby again." "More importantly, I can't overlook what this means to hockey card collectors, especially those who have supported us loyally throughout the years. Now we will have an opportunity to deliver something we were unable to provide before. I've always maintained that our hockey cards offer outstanding value, superior quality and the best designs. Now we've locked up one of the best players for those cards." Orr will make his In The Game debut in the upcoming Parkhurst Original Six Series. This product is devoted to the NHL's "Original Six" franchises and boxes and cases are exclusive to each team. Parkhurst Original Six will be released on the following dates:
Parkhurst Original Six Detroit Red Wings - January 15 SOLD OUT Cards of Bobby Orr will be available in both the Chicago (base card #49) and Boston releases. In order to increase the integrity of the Original Six Boston Bruins release, In The Game also inked a deal with Raymond Bourque. He will have several cards in that product. Bobby Orr played 12 seasons in the NHL from 1966-67 to 1978-79 before being forced to retire at age 30 because of knee injuries. Though his final two years amounted to a total of 26 games with the Blackhawks, he will always be remembered for his exploits with the Bruins. He won an unprecedented eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the NHL's best defenseman from 1968 to 1975. Orr also continues to hold the NHL record for most points by a defenseman in one season with 139 in 1970-71. His career totals include 915 points in 657 games. Raymond Bourque starred for 22 seasons with Boston and Colorado from 1979-80 to 2000-01. He skated in 1,612 career games, all but 94 with the Bruins. A five-time winner of the Norris Trophy, he was named to the NHL All-Star Team an astounding 19 times. Bourque holds the Bruin franchise records for career points, assists, games, and playoff points among many others. Parkhurst Original Six hockey cards feature a 100-card base set for each team (600 cards in total). Each base set consists of a variety of prominent players ranging from rookie cards of current young prospects to cards featuring retired greats. Packs also include randomly inserted game-used memorabilia cards (one per box), autographed cards, non-memorabilia inserts, and the He Shoots, He Scores Decoy/Redemption card program.
