Dear Collectors:

At In the Game, Inc., we take great pride in producing attractive, innovative, and high-quality trading cards. Hockey is all we do and we hope we do it well.

As proud and as careful as we are, however, it does not mean we are perfect. We are not immune from the occasional error or oversight. When a mistake is brought to our attention, our first goal is to address the issue in a manner that satisfies the collector. Our second goal is to determine how and why the error occurred so we can prevent it from happening again.

Recently, one such error was brought to our attention by a collector based in Sweden. We take all such errors very seriously and rather than dismissing or ignoring it, we are choosing to handle it with integrity in an open and public fashion. We believe the most effective method of maintaining the confidence of our collectors is by taking constructive action.

The error has to do with the sequential numbering on redemption cards we issued at the recent SportsFest show in Chicago in June. As many of you already know, since our inception in 1998, In the Game has offered a wrapper-redemption program at our booth at most major sports collectibles shows. We ask collectors to open our products at our booth. In exchange for the wrappers, we provide unique foil-stamped cards from our various sets. These redemption cards are usually sequentially numbered out of 10. Sometimes we sprinkle special "one-of-one" versions among them.

Unfortunately, and of course accidentally, two Nicklas Lidstrom cards were stamped "1/1" and handed out at the SportsFest show.

First and foremost, we wish to apologize for this error. We also want to assure collectors that this is an isolated incident. Our wrapper redemption program is the most popular and successful one in the industry. We would never intentionally do anything to jeopardize that success.

Upon further study, we have determined this is a case of human error. When we prepare cards for an upcoming show redemption program, we usually sort a series of hand-collated sets from our warehouse inventory. Sometimes these cards will stick together and two of the same card will end up in one hand-collated set. When the cards are foil stamped through a mechanical process, the two Lidstrom cards became separated and both were stamped "1/1".

When we mix all of our redemption cards in preparation for a show, the one-of-one cards are the last group to be randomly distributed within all the other cards numbered out of 10. We double-check all the one-of-one cards before inserting them into the sleeves with the other redemption cards. Unfortunately, we missed finding the error and both Lidstrom one-of-ones went into the mix.

As a result of this error, we will become even more diligent and take greater precautions when preparing redemption cards for future shows. All card sets will be thoroughly examined, both before and after the foil-stamping process, to help eliminate the possibility of such a mistake being repeated. When it comes to our reputation as well as the confidence of our customers, there is no room for compromise.

We thank you for your time and understanding and we look forward to another great hockey card season in 2002-03.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian H. Price
