The fifth edition of the Be A Player Memorabilia Series is slated for release on December 11. This product carries many popular elements from previous Memorabilia Series releases but also incorporates a number of noteworthy innovations. Best of all, there is more value than ever before!

Memorabilia Series begins with a 200-card base set including 100 top NHL stars, a 70-card Between the Pipes subset, and a 30-card Rookies subset. The Between the Pipes subset is a dream for goalie collectors featuring a horizontal design and a checklist that includes nearly every current NHL goalie. The Rookie Card subset is short-printed and is comprised of the top NHL freshmen for 2003-04. Look for rookie sensations Marc-AndrŽ Fleury of the Penguins, Eric Staal of the Hurricanes, and Patrice Bergeron of the Bruins.

There are also scarce parallel cards to pursue. Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald versions of the entire 200-card set will add to this product's collectibility.

Given the presence of the Between the Pipes subset, it is only natural that new Mask inserts also be available in this product. Look for The Mask III, a series of 20 new cards highlighting some of the most colorful and dramatic equipment in all of pro sports. There will also be parallel Silver versions (limited to 300) and Gold versions (limited to 30). And... for the first time ever, look for Game-Used Jersey versions as well as Autographed versions of these ever-popular inserts.

Fans of game-used memorabilia inserts can celebrate the fact no fewer than 17 different sets have been created for the Memorabilia Series. As is the tradition, many utilize an NHL All-Star Game theme. In The Game continues to be the only hockey card manufacturer providing such a wide selection of memorabilia cards featuring pieces of All-Star game-worn items.

Among the All-Star-themed insert sets are All-Star Game-Used Jersey (40 cards); All-Star In the Numbers (20 cards); All-Star Emblems (20 cards); All-Star Teammates (10 cards); All-Star Starting Lineup (12 cards); and Complete All-Star Jersey (10 cards).

All memorabilia inserts will have stated production runs of 100 or less. Collectors will pull one memorabilia insert from every box of Memorabilia Series cards.

The 2003-04 Memorabilia Series also offers a stunning array of non-memorabilia inserts.

In addition to The Mask cards, another intriguing non-memorabilia insert set is entitled Deep In The Crease. Again, the focus is on goaltenders with four or five of the top netminders on a team's depth chart presented on one card. There are 15 different teams represented on 15 different cards.

Brush With Greatness is a new and exciting insert/redemption card program. Featuring the work of hockey artist Mike James, there are two versions of each player. One presents a series of accomplishments by the player on the card back. The second version serves as a contest-entry card in which collectors can win one of 25 spectacular one-of-a-kind hand-painted jerseys of that player. Many of these jerseys have also been autographed by the player. Individual draws will begin in March. More details will be announced shortly.

Super Rookies is a 20-card set comprised of the year's top freshmen. There are two parallel versions - Silver, which is limited to 100 copies, and Gold, which is a 1/1.

The 2003 version of the popular Draft Redemption Program is also available in this set. The Redemption Cards seeded in packs will feature a number ranging from one to 30, each representing the player selected in that spot in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. As soon as a player makes his NHL debut, his Redemption Card becomes "live" and collectors have six months to send it to In The Game in exchange for a card of that player. Only 100 cards representing each number has been inserted in packs. Eight different players will be "active " upon the product's release. Finally, the Memorabilia Series incorporates the He Shoots, He Scores Decoy/Redemption card program. Every pack contains one of these extra-thick cards (except for packs containing a memorabilia card). They are designed to deter pack searching. Every card also includes a point value. Collect enough points and you will earn a unique double-memorabilia card of one of 30 different NHL stars. These cards will be hand-numbered to 20 and are not available in packs.
